Author Biography
Prof. Z.H. Zaidi after completing his M.Sc. from Agra University in 1963, worked as Lecture at Agra College for short period. To continue his study of Physics, he joined research with Prof. Roop Kishor, a student of Sir C.V. Raman. Prof. Zaidi worked on Raman Spectroscopy of some colored compounds and also established some valuable empirical relations among important molecular parameters. Accepting an advice from Prof. Roop Kishore and Prof. P. Venkatesh Warlu, he joined Aligarh Muslim University in 1965. Here ha got an opportunity to work with Prof. R. Ahmad and Prof. B.N. Khanna and got Ph.D. degree in 1968. The work involved Spectroscopic study of trapped radical ions of some Polycyclic Aromatic Hydrocarbons (PAH). For the first time Prof. Zaidi used Free Electron Molecular Orbital theory to interpret the spectra of radical ions. In 1971, Prof. Zaidi joined Jamia Millia Islamia where he continued his research on PAH and their radical ions. These studies contributed to astrophysical and cancer research studies. Later on, these studies were extended to some organic dyes and some laser materials were identified based on organic dyes doped in silica gel glasses. At Jamia, Pro. Zaidi held various positions including Head, department of physics; Dean, Faculty of Natural Sciences and Technology; Director Academy of Third World Studies; and Officiating Vice Chancellor. In 1999, he was appointed Vice Chancellor, MJP Rhilkhand University. In view of his efficient handling of the university affairs, he was given another term as Vice chancellor. He has about 150 research papers to his credit in national and international journals. He writes popular science articles in various magazines and has delivered around 100 radio talks on scientific topics. At present, he is Chief Editor of Inverts Journal of Science and Technology. Hardik Jeetendra Pandya is pursuing his Ph.D. studies from Instrument Design Development Centre, Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi. Prior to join IIT Delhi as research scholar he was working s faculty in Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering at Invertis Institute of Engineering and Technology, Bareilly. He completed his Post Graduation in Electronics with Gold Medal from Pramukh Swami Department of Electronics, Sardar Patel University, V.V. Nagar, Gujarat in the Year 2004. He has worked in a National Research Project on Development of Selective and Sensitive Gas Sensors using Indium Oxide & Indium Tin Oxide for detection of VOCs, funded by UGC, New Delhi and has presented and published research papers on Thin film Sensors and their applications in National and International Conferences and Journals. His areas of interest are Solid States Electronics Devices, Semiconductor Materialsand Devices, VLSI Technology and Design and Analog Integrated Circuits. His current research interests include fabrication and characterization of Solid State Sensors.
