Beyond the eastern frontier of the Roman Empire lay the territory of the Sasanians, a dynasty that originated in southern Iran. Some Sasanian glass was similar in form to Roman production, but other pieces were inspired by a specifically Iranian style. This work provides a starting point for the study of the glass made in the Sasanian Empire.
