One Little Finger is the story of a woman who defied all odds to emerge victorious in spite of crippling physical disability and an insensitive society; a woman who dragged herself out of the limitations that her condition had imposed on her. This is the story of Malini Chib's search for independence and identity, and her zeal to live a full, meaningful life despite lifelong disability. Malini suffers from Cerebral Palsy, an impairment of the brain that makes body movements extremely difficult. In this inspirational autobiography, Malini recounts her experiences from childhood to adulthood-her struggles as a child, her challenges and disappointments as a youth, and her achievements and joys as an adult. Malini gives a moving account of her struggles with motor skills and communication, with managing day-to-day activities, and with apathy of people towards the disabled. She educates herself, earning double masters. She learns to type with her little finger and speak through the Lightwriter. Finally, she works through unfavorable social systems and attitudes to get a career as an event manager. Malini tells us the story of her struggles against adversity and her determination to succeed at any cost, to search for her own identity in a contrary world. And in the process of finding herself, she becomes a beacon of hope for everyone.
