The Glossary contains about 2000 definitions of various term used in Human Resources Planning and Development (HRP&D) which is an interdisciplinary subject. For some of the terms, wherever possible, suitable illustrations and graphs have been given. This glossary will be of immense use to researchers, policy-makers, development administrators and trainers associated with HRP&D. For the convenience of the readers, the terms have been defined in alphabetical order. However, at the end, the terms defined have been classified into six themes areas of HRP&D alongwith the page number have been defined.

Sant Lal Arora is a Senior Research Officer of IAMR, New Delhi. He has written them twenty reports on various subjects relating to Human Resource Planning and Development. His areas of specialisation are: employment planning in informal sector, promotion of self-employment and strategies of employment generation. Satish Kumar Yadav is a faculty member of IAMR, New Delhi. He is post graduate in economics as well as business management. He has also worked in National Sample Survey Organisation (Field Operation Division), government of India. His areas of specialisation are: manpower planning, human resource development, informal sector and human development index. Govind Prasad Joshi is associated with Social Security Academy of Employees Provided Fund Organisation, Ministry of Labour, Government of India. A post-graduate in economics, he has worked in the research faculty of IAMR. His areas of specialisation are: sectoral studies, work studies, human resource planning and social security.
