English First Literary Reader: A Multi-Skill Language Course

English First is a comprehensive and stimulating English course for classes 1 to 8. Designed by a team of experienced teachers, this multi skill course aims to develop not just language competency but core values like tolerance, patience, care for others and concern for the environment. To add variety to the child’s understanding of language, English First uses several kinds of text like poems, plays, letters and pages from a diary. The supplementary reader ‘Read and Enjoy’ included in the course books for classes 1 to 5 makes reading for enjoyment part of the main study and avoids the need for an additional literary reader. Books for classes 6 to 8 are accompanied by separate literary readers. The workbook serves as an extension of the coursebook and gives additional practice in comprehension, vocabulary, grammar and writing. About The Author Managalam Neelakantan has worked on several projects in the areas of syllabus design and Material Production in ELT. She has conducted several workshops for teachers at all levels in the states of Tamil Nadu, Maharashtra, Goa and Gujarat. Rajeswary Packiriswamy has 26 years of experience as a teacher, teacher trainer and material writer. She is a CBSE-ELT Key Resource Person, and is currently at MES Indian School, Doha, Qatar, Nirmala Jairaj, formerly vice Principal of Chinmaya Vidhyalaya, has over 30 years of experience in teaching English. She is currently and ELT consultant involved in teaching, and training teachers.
