  • Description

In recent years, universities and schools have begun introducing more inclusive syllabi and emphasizing the works and ideas of previously overlooked or underrepresented achievers in all fields. Literature is no exception, and this means readers of all ages are exploring the rich contributions of writers from around the world. These writers have various backgrounds, and unlike most writers from the U.S. or the United Kingdom, information on them in English can be difficult to find. Literature is no exception, and this means readers of all ages are exploring the rich contributions of writers from around the world. These writers have various backgrounds, and unlike most writers from the U.S. or the United Kingdom, information on them in English can be difficult to find. Viva-Facts On File Encyclopedia of World Writers: 19th and 20th Centuries covers the most important writers outside of the U.S., Britain, and Ireland in the last two centuries. This comprehensive one-volume guide contains insightful, A-to-Z entries on approximately 300 writers-primarily novelists, poets, dramatists, and short-story writers-whose works are anthologized in textbooks or assigned in high school and university English courses. Entries range in length from 200 to 1,000 words and include a biographical sketch, synopses of major works, and a brief bibliography. Viva-Facts On File Encyclopedia of World Writers: 19th and 20th Centuries will delight readers and provide students and researchers with valuable information on this group of influential people. Coverage includes the major French, Russian, German, and other European writers as well as those from Asia, Africa, and Latin America.
