This book looks at the cropping systems, patterns and cropping sequences; farm and farm ranch; farming systems around the world; farming systems in Sub-Saharan Africa, Middle east and North Af rica; farming systems in Eastern Europe, Central Asia and Southern Asia; and farming systems in East Asia, Pacific, Latin America and Caribbean in detail. The book titled, “Cropping and Farming Systems” is a scientific elaboration on the subject. The related themes are presented in a systematic manner to understand the fundamentals clearly. Today, it is clearly understood that any potential faring yield can only be achieved under the ideal management of the farm. Faming systems represent integration of farm enterprises as cropping systems, animal husbandry, fisheries, poultry farming, etc. A judicious mix of cropping systems with associated enterprises like dairy, poultry, piggery, fishery, sericulture, etc. suited to the given agro-climatic conditions and socio-economic status of farmers would bring prosperity to the farmer. Therefore, it provides readers with of some of the basic principles of cropping and farming systems. This book will also be of interest to technicians working in the field of biology and applied sciences, more specifically, in the fields of soil science, agronomy, horticulture, hydrology, and forestry. This book titled “Cropping and Farming Systems” is an attempt to understand cropping and farming systems in a comprehensive way.

Shagufta, Faculty, P G Department of Biotechnology, A N College, Patna Magadh University, is M.Sc in Zoology (Patna University) and Ecology and Environment (IIEE, New Delhi). She is a dedicated teacher and an outstanding researcher. She has been a recipient ofSpecial State Merit Scholarship throughout her college and university years. The author has completed her Ph.D research work on 'Seasonal Fluctuation in Blood Glucose and Glycogen and their Hormonal Regulation with reference to male and Female Immature, Mature and Senile, Common Indian Fowl, Gallus Gallus'. She has authored 2 books and her 10 research papers published in various reputed journals and books. She has attended and presented papers in more than 30 International and National Conferences and Seminars on environment. She is the member of environment wing, Confederation of Indian Graduates (CIG). Besides, she is actively engaged in environmental awareness and enrichment campaign and various activities to work for the causes of environmental degradation and conserve environment, both inside and outside the college campus. She is totally devoted to promote education and is currently engaged in textbook writing as a mission. She has delivered guest lectures in Oxford, Oxford Brooks University, U.K on various issues of Environment. She has attended International Conferences on waste management in Winchester U.K in October 2009.
