Author Biography
Bob O'Connor is a retired professor of health and physical education and a licensed psychologist. He was a long time strength training teacher and coach, starting at U.C.L.A. in 1956. He has also worked with Olympic champions from the U.S.A. and has helped to develop strength and conditioning programs for Olympic coaches in several countries. During his 45 year coaching career he has coached girls and boys and women and men in a number of sports. He has authored 35 books in sport, health, sports injuries and sports conditioning. Kari Fasting is considered to be one of the top experts in the world in the issues related to women and sport She is the former president of the International Society for Sport Sociology and is the current vice president for WomenSport International. Her major research interests have been in increasing women's participation in sports and in the coaching and administration of sport, and more recently, sexual harassment and abuse. Diane Dahm did graduate work in orthopedic surgery at the Mayo Medical School where she is presently an instructor and a consultant in the Department of Orthopedics. She is a former college basketball player and currently cycles and snowboards. She is the Chairperson for the Research Committee of the Women's Sports Foundation. Christine Wells is a former university teacher of exercise physiology and kinesiology. She has also been a university athletic trainer. Her writing includes college textbooks on strength training and sports, as well as books on health and fitness for the general population. She is now working in the medical field.
