Susan qualified in medicine in 1987 from Southampton University and undertook GP training in Northamptonshire and Cheshire, England. She was a GP principal in training practices in Manchester and York. She taught communication skills inthe Department of General Practice at Leeds University from 1995 to 2000. Susan moved to the desert region of Central Australia nearly ten years ago and found an oasis of opportunities in medical education, research and politics. She worked at Central Australian Aboriginal Congress and in private practice at Bath Street Medical Centre. She was the Chair of the Central Australian Division of Primary Health Care, inaugural Chair of Northern Territory General Practice Education, a Medical Educator for the Remote Vocational Training Scheme and Chair of Living Waters Lutheran Primary School. Susan is now a GP and GP supervisor at Central Clinic, Alice Springs and provides the RFDS Rural Women's GP service at Ayers Rock Medical Centre, Yulara. She is a Senior Lecturer in Clinical Educator Development with the Flinders University Rural Clinical School and a topic coordinator for the Master of Clinical Education program at Flinders. Susan is an examiner for the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners clinical examination, a Medical Educator for gplearning and writer for the Australian College of Rural and Remote Medicine StAMPS examination.
