More students learn from John Santrock?s Adolescence than from any other text in this field. Students and instructors rely on the careful balance of accurate, current research and applications to the real lives of adolescents. The fully-revised eleventh edition includes a new chapter on health, expanded coverage of late adolescence, and more than 1200 research citations from the 21st century.Key Features:Because of the increased interest in adolescent health in recent years, a new chapter, Health (Chap. 15), has been added. Important topics such as stress, exercise, and eating disorders are included in this new chapter. This edition includes a more extensive research focus with more than 1200 21st century citations and greater emphasis on culture, college and emerging adulthood, and health and well-being. The new edition has been revised and reorganized where appropriate, to improve the overall clarity of the presentation. For example, Chapter 7 (Sexuality) has been restructured and there is a new section on sexual attitudes and behavior. Learning Goals are presented at the beginning of each chapter in tandem with a chapter outline/map of key headings; they are then revisited in the "Review and Reflect" summary that concludes each section of a chapter; finally, they are summarized in a "Reach Your Learning Goals" end-of-chapter visual. These goals help students find the main ideas in their life span development course."Careers in Adolescent Development" boxes feature interviews with professionals who use the concepts from adolescent development in their careers; in addition, a careers primer precedes the first chapter. Numerous Web links are provided throughout the text which gives students the opportunity to read about these careers in greater depth.Unique cross-linkages featured within every chapter refer students back to the primary discussion of key concepts, increasing comprehension and serving as a built-in review.Expert consultants have reviewed chapters in their areas of expertise, adding their recommendations and insights to provide the most current information available about life-span development. The text?s expert reviewer panel, a ?who?s who? in the field of life-span development, is highlighted in the preface of the text.
