Since the VCI course curriculum was implemented, need of a suitable literature for the students of Pathology was felt at many fora, Pathology forms a vital link between basic subjects of anatomy, biochemistry and a physiology on the one hand, and clinical subjects of surgery, gynaecology and medicine, on the other. The students of Veterinary Pathology faced difficulties in understanding exhaustive and voluminous books on the subjects. The main purpose of the Veterinary Pathology-Quick Review and Self Assessment, is to provide the Undergraduate Veterinary Students a textbook in short, so that they can quickly review the subject before examination particularly competitive examinations. To broaden the scope further laboratory methods including postmortem examination, histopathology and clinicopathological procedures are alos included in the appendices. The book is well described with salient features of macroscopic and microscopic observations and divied in four sections-General Pathology, Systemic Pathology, Special Pathology-I and Special Patholgoy-II. Model questions and their answers are given to self assess while studying Pathology for further continual improvement in the knowledge.

Prof. R S Chauhan is currently Director of Indian Veterinary Research Institute, Izatnagar, Bareilly (UP). He has worked as Joint Director (CADRAD), National Fellow, Associate Professor, Assistant Professor in IVRI, CCS HSU, Hisar and GB Pant University, Pantnagar. He has more than 600 publications to his credit that have appeared in various national and international journals of repute. He has authored 24 books including textbooks on Veterinary Pathology, Laboratory Diagnosis, Glossary, Manuals and Monographs. He was awarded with various national awards including Young Scientist Award, Dr. Rajendra prasad Award of ICAR, Best Teacher Award, Dr. K.S. Nair Memorial Award, IAAVR Award, Shri Ram Lal Agrawal national Award, Dr. K.S. Nair Memorial Award, Dr. Rajendra Prasad Award of ICAR, Best Teacher Award of GB Pant University, etc. He has been widely travelled and attended several international conferences and visited Kenya, UAE, Egypt, France, UK, The Netheriands, Canada, and Germany. He is Fellow of National Academy of Veterinary Sciences and Society for Immunology and Immunopathology. He is also heading “Society for Immunology and Immunopathology” as Secretary-General. He is President of The Cow Therapy Society and Vice-Presidnt of the Indian Association of Veterinary Educators. Earlier he has been in executive committee member of IAAVR, Joint Secretary, Indian Virology Society and Zonal Secretary, Indian Association of Veterinary Pathologists. He is Managing-Editor of the Journal of Immunology and Immunopathology, Editor in Chief of the International Joural on Cow Science and Editor of The Indian Cow. He has been Task Force member of WHO on EHC and Temporary Advisor, WHO/IPCS. He was Chief Editor, Indian Journal of Veterinary Pathology and honoured as Fellow, Indian Association of Veterinary Pathologists. He has been elected as Vice President, IAVP and awarded Diplomat, Indian College of Veterinary Pathologists.
